POINT OF VIEW INTERVIEW #20

PRODUCER: DAYDREAMER

His music is able to convey his thoughts so simply yet so complex that you don't know how to wrap your mind around the heavy sensation of emotionally driven music he drops upon you. Being one of my favorite upcoming artists at the moment, Daydreamer creates music for you to feel his devotion and love of music as a whole. His radiant new EP, titled Senses, which was released on June 10th, established an excellent first step into his music career. The EP projects the views of what he is inspired by and what motivates him to produce music, giving listeners a sense of who he is as both an artist and person. Having his first tracks from Senses, "Swoon" and "Skyscrapers," be released via MrSuicideSheep, Daydreamer is a musical treasure who is gradually emerging into the electronic music scene. He is only just beginning to pave his way and I thought it would be a great idea to ask him some questions about his inspirations, music, and artist background. Hope you enjoy the read and make sure to check out Daydreamer's Senses on all streaming platforms!

Question 1: What got you into making music?

Well I originally was taking piano lessons from when I was about 4 or 5 till I was 11, but wanted to write my own stuff when I was about 8. I discovered electronic music around that time and messed around on my electronic keyboard whenever I could. My family has always surrounded me with music my whole life so I guess I always felt the urge to dive deeper into that world and create my own things.

Question 2: What people intrigue you or inspire you to pursue music? (Can be in any field i.e. music, writers, etc.)

I'm very inspired by people with strong creative drives and ambition. People that strive to be bigger than what they are. People that do not settle for anything less. But more than anything, I love seeing artists of any kind that have a true passion for what they do. Where you can tell they would rather not be doing anything else other than working on their craft, whatever it may be.

Question 3: How would you define your style of music?

I would say that its pretty but raw, delicate but gritty. Also it's very personal which I tend to over-stress with my music. I always want to make something that is true to me, my tastes, my ideas, and my emotions. Atmospheres are especially important to me when making a song, so I guess 'atmospheric' works too.

Question 4: What influences your style of work?

My main inspirations are experiences, emotions, thoughts, sentiments, etc... Mostly they tend to be my own experiences and thoughts, but occasionally I like to use others experiences as well. The world around me plays a big part in inspiring my creations. I like to use whatever I can get my hands on at that time to make interesting textures and tell stories or whatever.

Question 5: What is your favorite track that you have produced so far?

There's one I've made that I love a lot but I can't say anything about it right now, but from my currently released work, I would personally say 'Travelling Light'. That song was created in such a raw, spontaneous way and I was so genuinely surprised at myself after I finished it. It was just my pure, raw emotions put in musical form. It is probably the most personal song I think I've ever written. It will always have a special place in me.

Question 6: How far do you plan to take your music, any goals? Who would you like to work with in the future?

I have plenty of goals and aspirations for my music, but other art forms as well. My bucket list is ridiculously long. Some of these things include writing music/designing sounds for movies or games, there are tons of artists I would love to work with, show ideas I have, clothes I want to design, visual art, etc... The list is endless.
