EVENT: WHAT SO NOT'S DIVIDE AND CONQUER TOUR: LA

GOLDENVOICE + TRILLECTRO + LED PRESENT: WHAT SO NOT

Australian producer, What So Not, performed two nights in a row at the beautiful Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. With its echoey sound and renaissance scenery, the Fonda was an unique venue to experience a What So Not show.

With openers, James Earl, TKay Maidza, and Saturday night’s, Graves, the crowd was full of energy and anticipation. Performing for an 18 plus show and an all ages show, it was interesting to witness and compare the reactions of the two separate age groups. During night one of the Divide and Conquer Tour in LA, the crowd was a bit mild due to it being an older audience. With cups of beer and Red Bull vodka being passed around you could say the crowd was under the influence of mostly drinks and not music. Nonetheless, the performances of Tkay Maidz and What So Not blew our minds!

When night two rolled around, you had an age group that varied from almost every kind. The energy was louder and rowdier. Having the most interest in What So Not, there was definitely more interaction with the artists, chanting “What So Not” throughout the whole entire show. Graves had everyone heated by spinning music from future bass to hyper trap, shifting the setting to a hyped and amped up atmosphere. Dishing out music you don’t hear in your usual DJ set, you could tell the crowd discovered a brilliant artist that night. Tkay Maidza had her crowd vibing to the bouncing hip-hop and jungle feels of her voice. After witnessing her perform two nights in a row, she is definitely an artist who gives her all in every live set!

But the evening was just getting started as What So Not’s set began with the room dark and eerie, spilling in his track “Divide and Conquer” giving us goosebumps of anticipation. From incredible visuals to playing a Stranger Things remix, What So Not’s set was 10/10 wild and unpredictable. Then TKay Maidza preformed “Tell Me” giving a rock edge to the trombone trap song, surprising everyone once again. But this all lead to the highlight of night two. Special guest, RL Grime, stormed out as him and What So Not unleashed their new heavy collab together setting the crowd on fire both irl and url. Despite the age differences on both nights, What So Not conquered his audience, everyone expecting nothing less than a show to talk about with their friends. The Divide and Conquer tour is one you might want to catch this fall!

  1. This is a great place organize an event; they have great staff and great events put on here! I had nothing but great times and great conversations at venues in San Francisco. They served slider and shrimp cakes as appetizers with chicken skewers, and eggrolls that had veggies on the inside and some kind of creamy fruit sauce on top.
