COSMO'S MIDNIGHT: MOMENTS EP REVIEW
THERE'S MORE TO THIS DUO THAN MEETS THE EAR
With an EP like Moments, it is well made out that Cosmo’s Midnight can evolve flawlessly in their musical styling. Ever since Surge, it’s been a while since Cosmo’s Midnight came out with a fully developed compilation of songs. What makes this EP different from their last project is that it incorporates all types of musical elements. For example, songs like “Snare” featuring Wild Eyed Boy and “Walk With Me” with KUČKA have an R&B sway to its vocals with components of funk bits supplemented into both songs. Not only has Cosmo’s Midnight teamed up with talented artists like Wild Eyed Boy and KUČKA, but also with Lido, Wave Racer, Hi Tom, and Sarah Bonito. Speaking of Sarah Bonito, their collaboration, titled “Hurt”, is one of the most interesting songs on the entire EP. “Hurt” composes both, kawaii and future classic genres, with bits of Japanese rhymes together to get a light-hearted song that leaves the mind wondering, “Where has this been all my life?” I can say with full confidence, that with every song on the EP that Cosmo’s Midnight has formed, this duo have found a way to complement each artist they work with. By emphasizing the partner’s signature style, you can still tell Lido is Lido in “Falling Out” or Hi Tom is still Hi Tom in “Ether.” There’s no confusion as to who was involved in each song. In other words, Cosmo’s Midnight is careful yet experimental when it comes to collaborating in a song. Honestly, that is one of the main reasons why this EP stands out to me. The Moments EP has literal moments of every element required to make a song, whether that’s teaming up with another artist or colliding two different types of music genres together. I highly recommend Cosmo’s Midnight’s EP for anyone who wants to explore more than just your everyday electronic music.
