What was the inspiration behind this track?
Shalom Dubas: JAYDOT sent this awesome beat, and I was hooked, so I wrote on it. When I got the combo that I wanted I played it for him we both approved lol “I wanna know you better, I gotta know you best.” This was such a fun song to write and sing - and dance to, to be honest.
How did the collaboration come together?
JAYDOT: Shalom and I work together quite often on music! After first collaborating on "Stories" a while back, we've worked on tracks together extensively since. It's great to be able to bounce ideas back and forth to each other.
What was the creative process like when creating "Laces"?
JAYDOT: When producing the track, I knew that I wanted to create something upbeat and energetic yet still minimal enough to give it a sense of simplicity. When I sent the track to Shalom, she instantly fell in love with the production and wrote to it!
Shalom Dubas: The creative process was pretty dynamic, from how JAYDOT and I work together to how I wrote the song. He sent me the beat, and when I heard it I started writing and singing to it, there was a rough version that was 'eh,' but when I finished one I thought it was better, we agreed that it was good, so we put our final touches on it. I think the drums that come in after the first verse are so dope.
