THE OBSERVATORY: A NIGHT OF ENERGY
On March 23, The Observatory in Santa Ana was having one
hell of a Wednesday night. Wave Racer, Basenji, and a few friends threw an all
ages show that had the whole floor moving. You could say their future classic
sets got the kids rowdy, but it was genuine love for the music that had them cheering
and dancing for more. But the crowd that night was a mixture of everyone. Being
an all ages show, you had all types of music loving goers and ages in the
venue, most of which went most crazy over your generic hip-hop and rap songs.
But that didn’t stop Wave Racer and his opener Basenji from creating an
energetic atmosphere for all. Being Wave
Racer’s, Basenji’s, and also my, first time in the Observatory, the venue was
not too small and not too big, but the right size for a crowd to feed off of
the artists’ infectious energy. What made me enjoy the show most were the
visuals used throughout each one’s set. The pastel and metallic colors in each
visual background enhanced the future feels even more that night. There were
also some unreleased music that was played such as Basenji throwing in a new
Henrik the Artist track and Wave Racer ending his set with his new remix of
Flume’s “Never Be Like You” (
which is now available for stream). When Wave Racer
comes to a venue near you, there’s no question as to why you shouldn’t go but
how you will go. Make sure to check out his future dates for his Flash Drive
North America Tour this Spring!
