STAND OUT TRACKS OF 2016 So many artists were discovered and recognized for their talent in producing and making music throughout this year. PAPER CRANE: AURAGAMI Written by: McTavish Jones Auragami  is the latest and greatest compilation from the powerhouse collective Paper Crane. Auragami is full of amazing songs from artists such as,  Metsä , Madnap , Omniboi and many others. The first track we are greeted with is a collaboration by Tofuku and Naisu called “ Individually ”. This track begins the compilation a somber and melancholy feel, with spacey vocals from Tofuku and a smooth rhythm from Naisu’s rapping. One of the many tracks that stood out among the rest was Omniboi’s “ Catching Up ,” a smooth yet bouncy track. Paper Crane's Auragami is definitely worth the checkout! Available for purchase here ! "BELISPEAK" - PURITY RING (WVLF REMIX) New York producer, WVLF, surely did a fantastic remake of a signature Purity Ring track, "Belispeak." The original spinning in spirited synths and chimes, WVLF drove his version in another direction putting a heavier future trap spin on the track. Keeping the vocals vibrant and entangled in pitch manipulation, the remix is a standout for a pleasurable listen to put you in a jovial mood! BEACH RAVES Yes, it's the middle of winter here in California, but with Crapface's new EP, it could feel otherwise like summertime! Every track on Beach Raves is a tribute to the festive moments we all enjoy during the sunny seasons by the poolside and beach fronts. It's an enjoyable listen filled with fizzy beats and animated samples and instrumentals. Tracks like "Hawaiian Punch," implicating a jazzy sax, and "Splash Fight with Beachday" embrace frivolous bouncy rhythms and vocal bits. "SKY" - BOHKEH FEAT. BAECHEL Bohkeh is back again and this time he has a sweet thrilling track to share with us all. Featuring blissful vocals by Baechel, their new collab, "Sky," is a pop-y and bubbly tune that will cast a smile on your face. Full of textures and frothy synths, the two friends generated a combination of future classic and pop beats within the track. "WE RISE" - SAN HOLO (GRINLESS BOOTLEG) It is always great to hear new versions of San Holo's music, especially when the turnout is solid.  Grinless continues to surprise us with tracks that surpass expectations, to say the least. With his new bootleg, Grinless took a gambol spin on a classic San Holo track, "We Rise." Mixing the build up and drops of the track, Grinless made a song that brings out the qualities of how fun this song can get. APOLLO 18 Lonemoon inevitably brought it home with this new seven track mixtape! From the smooth " Intro (lambo smashin') " to the bumping old school vibe of, " Rollin " featuring beautiful vocals by Ivy Hollivanna, the entirety of Apollo 18 brings out some of my favorite elements in hip hop music. With lyrics of pursuit and vision, this innovating artist plays with jazzy soul instrumentals to deliver a track like " Brainless ," produced by Glitch. PRODUCER/DJ: CELADON CITY This producer has really grown to be one of my favorite artists as of recently. The sound of melodic instrumentals that carry your soul into other spaces of peaceful energy is what gravitates many listeners to his music. From Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ethan Strange aka Celadon City uses mystical and lighthearted beats like soft piano and xylophone to perceive his mind of music. It only exhibits exceptional positivity yet heavy emotion. "U & ME" - 2TONEDISCO FT. BB TEETH Written by: McTavish Jones “U & Me” is the latest track from the gods 2ToneDisco and BB Teeth . This song is amazing.. seriously. We begin with bouncy saw chords, then enlightened with BB teeth’s robotic and beautifully auto-tuned voice. The song then builds to a drop with rhythmic chords jumping back and forth and house drums carrying the rhythm, vocal chops of BB Teeth's vocals compliment well with bell melody in between chords at a few moments. After a gorgeous breakdown, we are greeted with a guitar-ish lead. This song is seriously a masterpiece. The good feeling this song irradiates definitely deserves a listen. RESURGENCE: THE REMIXES Ehallz is back and with this Resurgence remix project he has curated a list of creative producer friends who have transformed the already beautiful piece of work. First dropping Resurgence back in May of this year, Ehallz made his debut album an extension of what his style in electronic music can offer. After listening to the original, it is great to see a list of diverse artists take their unique spin on certain tracks. Beginning with an intro that leads you into the world these creators have built for us, and the album also includes bonus tracks like " Radiance Pt.2 " and " City Lights ." With artists like Tombi, remixing " Sonar " into a spiraling dark bass trap track, and Send Off, beautifully reconstructing " Void ", the entire remix album will fulfill that itch for something brilliant and new! PRODUCER/ DJ DUO: SKULLS There's something about this California Bay based supergroup that always seems engage many ears and that's probably because of how intricate and solid their music is constructed and delivered. What caught my attention about the two producer team was the intense energy behind their music. Having multiple EP releases through Terrorhythm to dropping fire remixes, such as their new RIP release of Gud's " U Want Me ," via Pilerats, SKULS attach ambient like trap and future beats, giving us something different and originally beautiful.
